Lina Sleibi is a indie Palestinian vocalist who has the voice of an angel and the warmth of the sun. The topic of retruning home to the native land is always in season for Palestinians. While most people live in their own countries, our own country lives in each one of us.
So when Lina does a cover for that iconic song by Dalida about coming home to that beautiful land, you can see why I would get goose pumps. It’s a bittersweet song about nostalgia, first love, friends, distance and home. I love the band accompanying the young vocalist, together, they bring this memorable song to life.
The original song came in 1979, but the Palestinian question has been around for much longer. I like the background view which allows us to see a pretty face for Palestine that despite a violent occupation still managed to survive.
The song is part of a umbrella project for music called indie Palestine is a project Created by Elias Sabat currently under development .This project aims to create a solid ground floor for independent artists and musicians by making music videos, live multi-cam recordings and creative documentaries.
