I love seeing vintage photos from Gaza, and I love them even more when I hear a decent song. Here’s a beautiful song that sounds like a Lebanese song, only it’s about Gaza. Gaza is our town is the title of this beloved song. Gaza is a love story, the struggle of the people who fear not death.
It’s a classy song and these old pictures of Gaza are very telling….this is Gaza at time of my grandfather and perhaps my father. It used to be the big city in the area, and those fishermen knows as much. The song is about the varies parts of town, Gaza the city and its various neighborhoods. I love hearing these names of villages and looking at how they used to be before they got crowded with the arrival of refugees like my family.
The song itself is more than 30 years old, Arkan Fouad is the singer–he is Syrian.
