It has been a very long time since we heard from the Lebanese pop sensation Nelly Makdessy. We loved her in the early 00’s as she was a big hit during the early internet, even before YouTube was a thing. But in fairness, she was never that active in releasing new works or talking to the press. Like really, we do not know much about her affairs and I have no idea if she is married or single for example. That’s awesome because in the age of social media we wish some pop stars will go back into hiding as they seem silly. Not, Nelly though as we mark her return to music videos. Directed this time by the capable Randa Aalam which also celebrates her third time directing Nelly
Joseph Joha wrote the lyrics and music and the Hady Sharara studio ensured that we are getting a pop song that really pops. The filming took place in a Lebanese castle. Something tells me this is a music video that channels the real Nelly as she sees herself, good looking but also bold and courageous. This is not a cheap music video and very few Arab pop stars can pull it off, horses are not easy to work with and so are snakes. And this has been filmed using the 3D technology and the use of graphics. Nelly seems in her element and comfortable with this physically challenging production. She is an athlete it seems. How about those killer dance moves in that red dress. Nelly has always pushed the envelop and she does it here too in an age it has become hard to impress.
Congratulation, Nelly for this gigantic effort, you did a great job. I love the dialect and the fast-pace of the song.
